Dorkbot Paris was launched in January 2007 and is organised by several people from the worlds of art, research, design, science, cultural mediation, etc. Dorkbot was created in 2000 in New York by Douglas Repetto to gather local people in the most open way possible around creative projects: “people doing strange things with electricity”, without prior judgment on the quality and the value of the projects or the level of expertise of their creators.
Dorkbot Paris is open to all public, all participants, and entrance is free. Each meeting may take the form of a conference, an exhibition, a workshop, a performance or a mix of genres.
The meetings take place in the evening, usually once a month, each time in a different place in Paris and its suburbs: such as Ars Longa, Confluences, Le Cube, galerie agnès b., La Générale, etc. It was hosted for six months at Palais de Tokyo in 2009, and again at La Cantine in 2011-2012 and for a year at La Gaîté Lyrique in 2012-2013.
